The Founders of Delta Sigma Theta
In the Beginning....
Delata Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 beautiful young women at Howard University. Since the founding of the organiztion, over 200,000 women have joined in the struggle and dreams of our founders.
In 1986, Pi Xi chapter was chartered at Chico State University by six women with the help of Soror Trudy Carr, who wanted to continue the dream of the founders. Pi Xi, a small chapter in numbers, has only had 24 members. The women of Pi Xi believes in uplifting quality women, rather than bringing in quantity.
Throughout the years, Pi Xi Chapter has organizaed many projects. The members are dedicated to enhancing the knowlege of African Americans and African American Culture. Here are some of our more recent projects:
Sista to Sista....a support and study group for African American women at Chico State University.
Molefi Kente Asante....Renowned scholar came and spoke at CSU, Chico
The Black Board.....a board accesible by African American students listing events for African Americans in the Chico community
